With heavy heart we share this slowed down video of the last 30 seconds of life of Luis Góngora Pat, so that you can witness the sequence of terrible, rash, illegal and inhumane decisions made by these two SFPD officers. A similar video was presented at the press conference for the filing of the civil case.

On April 7, 2016, at 10:04am, in less than 30 seconds, Luis Góngora Pat was killed by SFPD Sgt. Nate Steger and officer Michael Mellone, who without cause shot him with four bean bag rounds and seven bullets. By all eyewitness accounts, Luis was sitting on the ground (just outside the frame of the security camera footage) minding his own business, when these two officers assault him gangster-style: One officer is actually wielding weapons two-fisted against one startled innocent man, while the other starts shooting even before the bean bag rounds have ended.

According to the autopsy report presented by the family attorneys at a press conference, the only fatal shot is to Luis’s left temple. He could have survived if not for that execution shot. The last rounds are fired with officers pointing their weapons to the ground. By the position of the officers, Luis was on the ground when he was executed. These officers are suspects in a homicide case and yet District Attorney George Gascón has made NO pronouncement whatsover. The Mexican Consulate has stated that they will seek an independent federal investigation, yet there is no proof that they are seeking justice for Luis and his family.

Luis was a migrant Mayan-Mexican family man, down on his luck, living in the homeless encampment on the street. This is yet another unjust killing by SFPD. We fight to restore his memory and his family!

Con pesar compartimos este video en cámara lenta de los últimos 30 segundos de vida de Luis Góngora Pat para que puedan ser testigos de la secuencia de decisiones terribles, imprudentes, ilegales e inhumanas tomadas por estos dos oficiales de la policia de San Francisco. Un video similar fue presentado en la conferencia de prensa sobre el inicio de la demanda civil.

El día 7 de abril de 2016,  a las 10:04am, en menos de 30 seconds, Luis Góngora Pat fue muerto por agentes de la polícia de San Francisco (SFPD) Sgt. Nate Steger y oficial Michael Mellone, quienes sin causa le dispararón cuatro bolsas con balines (rifle) y siete balas. Cuentan todos los testigos oculares que Luis estaba sentando en el suelo (justo fuera del marco del video de la cámara de seguridad) atendiendo sus asuntos, cuando estos dos oficiales lo asaltaron al estilo gangster: Uno de los agente hasta porta armas en ambas manos contra un hombre sorprendido e inocente, mientras que el otro empieza a disparar balas antes que siquiera el primero termine de disparar las bolsas de balinas (rifle). El único tiro fatal a la temple izquierda de Luis es disparada con los agentes apuntado hacia el suelo.

Conforme a la autopsia presentada por los abogados de la familia en conferencia de  prensa, sólo hay un tiro fatal a la temple izquierda de Luis. ¡Él hubiese podido sobrevivir si no fuese por aquel tiro de ejecución! Las últimas balas son disparadas por los oficiales apuntando sus armas al suelo. Por la posición de los oficiales, Luis estaba en el suelo cuando fue ejecutado. Ambos son sospechosos en un caso de homicidio y sin embargo el fiscal de distrito George Gascón no ha dicho ni una palabra. El Consulado Méxicano dice haber pedido una investigación federal independiente y sin embargo no hemos visto pruebas de que buscan darle justicia a Luis y a su familia.

Luis era una hombre maya-mexicano migrante con familia que pasaba un mal rato, viviendo en un encampamento en la calle. Este es un caso más de un asesinato injusto por la policía de San Francisco. ¡Luchamos para restaurar la memoria de Luis y restaurar a su familia!
